To book a hotel suite for a year…

London’s May Fair Hotel knows that for those who travel to London a few times a month it can be quite pricey to book one of their suites at over $5200 a night.

So their proposed solution to help those who stay at the May Fair several times throughout the year is to offer them a 60% discount and have these travelers book a suite for a year at a cost of $585,000.

The one-bedroom suite includes a Harrison & Gil hand-carved headboard in the bedroom and an Italian marble bathroom with a limestone egg bath. The sitting room features Chinese antiques, a full-size Cattelan dining table to seat 10 and a remote-controlled fireplace.

And I am just wondering if you are spending that much time ‘visiting’ London wouldn’t half a million get you a decent flat??

To buy an island…

The island of Herm which is one of the Channel Islands just off the coast of France is for sale. The owners for the last 28 years, the Heyworth family are expected to receive about $30 million for the property.

The island comes with a manor house, a 13th century chapel, tourist cottages, pub, shops, housing for 150 people and even a jail!

Now Brangelina just shelled out apparently $75 Million for their French countryside chateau- for that amount of cash they could’ve bought 2 islands (and adopted all the inhabitants!) What were they thinking!

To park your car in a ‘Bat Cave’…

You can sleep soundly knowing your automobiles are well protected in a SAFE “Bat Cave” Garage Security System.

Starting around $2.5 Million, this custom-designed vault, protected by Level-VII ballistic panels, keeps the owner’s cars on a turntable two feet off the ground and includes a waterfall and moat to further block intruders.

A waterfall and a moat!

To be Bejeweled…

Now at first blush you might think this post is about jewelry and wearing lots of it, but in fact, this is a post about the very popular game Bejeweled.

I must admit, details for this story are sketchy, and I apologize for that. I read about this in my local paper and when I went back to re-read it the paper had already found its way to the curb in the blue box.

So, bear with me on this one. Apparently there’s a girl (let’s call her Jane) that is obsessed with Bejeweled, she plays it all the time. And her boyfriend (let’s call him John) is a computer-programmer-hacker dude who re-programs Jane’s hand held device thingy so that when she reaches a certain level in the game, what is displayed is a diamond ring and the words “Will You Marry Me?”

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh how sweet! Doesn’t every girl wish for such a unique proposal?

Jane has accepted the proposal, and apparently the maker of Bejeweled has stepped in and is offering to sponsor part of the wedding and to provide complimentary copies of the game as wedding favors.

Corporate sponsorship at your wedding, a guy who (while it may be a little geeky the way he did it) found a really cool and meaningful way (for Jane) to propose.

Now, I just want to know if the ring has a diamond the same size as the one in the game!

To go to the final frontier…

So apparently in about 2 years time space tourism will be all the rage.

London’s Daily Mail reports that:

“Plans have been revealed for ‘Lynx’, a two-seater ’space taxi’, which will be capable of flying 37miles above the Earth from 2010.

Flights will cost passengers £50,000 for a journey in the rocket-powered vehicle that is intended to operate like a normal aeroplane by taking off and landing on runways.”

The Lynx jet will run on kerosene and liquid oxygen so I am guessing there is no smoking allowed, and it will be capable of flying several times a day.

Jeff Greason, CEO of XCOR, said: ‘The Lynx will offer affordable access to space for individuals, researchers and educators’.

Ummm WHAT! Affordable access to space!

I am still saving to get to Disney World so I can go on Space Mountain…

To check into this hotel…

The Atlantis-Bahamas’ “Bridge Suite” which is located on a bridge that connects the two Royal Towers of the resort so you have a complete view of the entire resort.

The 10 room suite comes with its own butler, his and hers closets, 2 Master bedrooms, and kitchen with a separate entrance so that the staff don’t bother you.

Marble baths, dolphin sculptures and chaise lounges adorn the bathrooms.

What will it cost you to sleep soundly in the hand painted linens?

$25,000 a night!
